Back from Cape Perpetua 2013 with all limbs attached and a whole lotta memories.
Summer seems to be slipping by quicker this year then any other. I blame a number of things. 1. traffic is getting out of control! No more people are allowed to move to Portland. 2. Jeff and I have multiple house projects happening in the middle of summer. Never happening again! 3. I love my job! resulting in long work days. Being that August is days around the corner I’m focused on taking my schedule by the balls this month and slowing the F down.

I’m going through the less is more stage right now, throwing items out that I’ve hung on to because I might want them one day in exchange for an effortless wardrobe. I’m also crazy about re-organizing rooms so this was a double bonus for me. Unfortunately it left me feeling like I’m missing some good summer pieces but I’m okay with that. I have to say I would way rather shop for fall clothes then summer so I’ll embrace the light load.
Jeff and I found out this morning that our first born, Tucker the shihtzu needs surgery on his knee. Family time will be much different this summer. Our late night 3-5 mile summer walks won’t be happening as frequent. Or they will but briefer with a dog front carrier.

Little is known about Razza and his company, other than: He began making jewelry in the 1950s; The figural metal and resin pieces that he is know for were made between 1968 and 1975 while working for the The Certified Corporation. Luca Razza made many different types of metal and resin pieces in the late 60’s / early 1970s. The main ones are the Elephant, Lion, Owl, Bull, Ram, Goat, and Panda. He made all of these in small (approx. 1.5″) size pendants, large (approx. 3″ to 4″) size pendants, brooches, rings, and belts.
California Diary.
It’s been over 20 years since I’d last been to San Diego so it felt good cruising the coastline for a few days.
I drove into San Diego from Palm Springs and picked up Jeff from the airport then headed North to Fallbrook to watch our good friends Crystal and Justin get married. The next morning Jeff and I drove through Oceanside, Carlsbad and Encinitas, b-bopped around Solana Beach and crashed in Del Mar for the evening. Followed by a day at Torrey Pines State Reserve for a beautiful hike and a drink at Torrey Pines Golf Course. We cruised into Downtown San Diego for our last night and finished an urban day trek in Coronado.

Black & White paired with color
There is nothing easier to wear then black and white, especially when paired with colorful patterns. It’s crisp, modern, simple and uncomplicated in this complicated world.
I look forward to sharing pictures of my last couple of weeks adventures, as well as our home projects that are keeping hairs from staying attached to our heads. I mean head ♥ Reffrey’s bald ♥ !

Gunmetal wing necklace
These days I am thankful for dress wearing weather and for having a slightly natural tan for easy-on-the-eyeball seasonal skirt length transition. Thank you mom and dad!
A majority of my outfit posts will be carryover pieces from summer 2012 but I will often plug in new pieces like this Joanna Laura Constantine gunmetal wing necklace I found on Bluefly.com. This is a great site for bargains as they often send out $30 off purchase emails if you subscribe to them.
A-line skirts: wear them! I tend to gravitate towards above knee skirts because of my short height. Be mindful of skirts that drop below the knee if you have shorter legs. Because it cuts your length off at the widest part of your calf, be sure to wear a shoe that gives you some height. This style is so comfortable to wear dressed up, show a little leg yet have enough length to sit criss-cross-apple-sauce for a picnic in the grass.
